Standards and Labels
We ensure our products comply with European CE standards. For this purpose, our products' materials and design are tested in independent laboratories.
A selection of our textile items carries the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 label, guaranteeing the absence of harmful substances.
For our wooden toys, we have chosen to use different qualities of FSC-certified wood, meaning it comes from responsibly managed forests. We also use water-based paints.
In addition to tests conducted by our laboratories, internal quality control is performed at each stage of product production and upon receipt of goods in our warehouses.

Certifications and labels of the Trois Kilos Sept brand
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100
The OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 label is an independent international certification that guarantees textiles have been tested for harmful substances. Introduced in 1992, this standard has become a reference in textile safety, covering the entire production process, from yarn to finished product.
What this means for you:
Items bearing this label have undergone rigorous testing for harmful substances, ensuring they are safe for health. You have the assurance that every component of the item, including threads, buttons, and other accessories, has been tested and meets the certification's strict criteria.
The pigments and dyes used in the products are also tested to ensure they don't release toxic substances, such as azo dyes, which can cause allergies or skin irritations.
The OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 label also takes into account the risks of allergies and irritations that certain chemicals can cause. Items are evaluated for their potential to cause allergic reactions or skin irritations.
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified products are compliant with national and global legislation on public safety and health.

European standards applied to our products at Trois Kilos Sept
Safety criteria for baby sleeping bags according to NF EN 16781 : 2018 standard
All our baby sleeping bags for girls or boys comply with the NF EN 16781: 2018 standard
This standard ensures that the sleeping bag poses no danger to your child during sleep. To be compliant, it must meet safety requirements to avoid main risks:
- Suffocation: the neck opening of the sleeping bag must be adjusted to your baby's neck according to their age, to prevent them from slipping inside and suffocating,
- hyperthermia: too high temperature. The thermal resistance measurement called TOG is a reference indicator for finding the ideal sleeping bag according to baby's room temperature and seasons. (For example, a 0.5 tog corresponds to a summer sleeping bag, a 2 tog: a mid-season sleeping bag, a 3 tog: a winter sleeping bag.
- Chemical risks: the product must not contain any harmful substances that can come into contact with baby's skin.
- Non-flammability of materials
- Injuries related to the presence of zippers and snap buttons (cuts or ingestion of small parts)
Safety criteria for cot bumpers and rail guards according to NF EN 16780 : 2018 standard
This standard ensures that the design and materials of cot bumpers and rail guards for babies pose no danger to your child during sleep. To be compliant, they must meet safety requirements to avoid main risks:
- Suffocation and strangulation: a solid fastening to prevent the product from collapsing and covering your baby, and no access to cords that could strangle them.
- falls: an appropriate height to the position of the bed base, so that the child cannot use it as foot support and climb out of the bed.
- Chemical risks: the product must not contain any harmful substances that can come into contact with baby's skin.
- Non-flammability of materials
Baby duvet safety criteria according to NF EN 16779-1 : 2018 standard
Our warm baby duvet complies with the NF EN 16779-1 : 2018 standard, which applies to duvets for children from 12 months to 3 years old.
This standard guarantees:
- Good breathability to prevent suffocation risks.
- Appropriate thermal insulation to prevent overheating.
- The absence of toxic products in fabrics and padding.
- Non-flammability
Safety criteria for changing mats according to NF EN 12221: 2023 standard
Like all of our products, our changing mats undergo numerous safety tests and comply with current standards.
In Europe, the current standard is EN 12221, which applies to changing mats and other similar devices intended for children up to 9 kg. This standard guarantees:
- Stability: The changing mat must be designed to avoid tipping risks when used on a changing unit or elevated surface in a domestic environment.
- Sturdiness: It must support a baby's weight up to 9 kilos without deforming or becoming damaged.
- Secured materials: Changing mats must be free from chemicals, formaldehyde, phthalates, or harmful flame retardants.
- Non-flammable materials
- Ergonomic design: The changing mat must be large enough for your child to extend their arms, hands, and legs. To prevent rolling and the risk of falling, it must have raised edges to support them in a lying position and prevent the risk of falling.
These standards ensure maximum safety, which is essential when baby starts moving unpredictably.
The addition of changing mats to the European standard for domestic changing units EN 1222-1 : 2023 is currently in progress. We didn't wait for the publication of the standard to implement the necessary tests to evaluate the risks of falling, toxicity, and flammability of our products in laboratory conditions.
Because every purchase for baby deserves consideration, we explain the importance of the changing mat in a dedicated article.
Safety criteria for silicone tableware according to NF EN 14372: 2004 standard
Our silicone plates, cutlery and cups for children comply with the NF EN 14372: 2004 standard, which ensures that the safety requirements for materials, construction, and performance of cutlery and tableware intended for use by children under 36 months to eat alone or with the help of another person are met. Specifically:
- No component should break, tear, or separate (risk of injury or ingestion of small elements)
- Materials in contact with food must be free from substances harmful to baby's health (BPA-free, phthalate-free and other contents).
- Utensils are required to be washable (for hygiene), functional: suitable for reheating food, ergonomic, and designed for small hands and first food discoveries.
Safety criteria for baby toys
All our baby developmental toys bear the CE marking, which means they comply with European safety standards, including the 3 main ones:
- EN 71-1: 2014+A1: 2018: mechanical and physical properties
- Hazard assessment: seam strength, stability (for rocking), entrapment, crushing, strangulation, choking, suffocation (ingestion of small parts), cuts, injuries, electric shock, burns, hearing damage....
- It includes specific requirements for toys intended for children under 36 months, children under 18 months, and those too young to sit up by themselves. According to Directive 2009/48/EC, "intended for use by" means that parents or supervisors should be able to reasonably deduce from the functions, dimensions and characteristics of a toy that it is intended for use by children in the indicated age category. Therefore, for the purposes of this European Standard, soft stuffed toys with simple functions to hold and cuddle, for example, are considered as toys intended for children under 36 months.
- EN 71-2:2020 : non-flammability
- EN 71-3:2019+A1:2021 : testing for the absence of heavy metals (aluminum, cadmium, chromium ....)
As well as the absence of toxic, carcinogenic, and extremely concerning substances in all types of materials (textiles, plastics, silicone...) that endanger your baby's health and the environment.
