The materials in our collections
What materials are used in our collections ?
At Trois Kilos Sept, our priority is softness and respect for baby's fragile skin. To achieve this, we meticulously select the materials used in our collections. We favour natural, durable and high-quality materials, while respecting our ecological commitments. We invite you to find out more about the materials we use so that we can be as transparent as possible with you.
The sponge
This material is highly absorbent thanks to its construction. The sponge generally consists of a tightly woven cotton ‘bottom’ and loosely woven cotton ‘loops’. It is the loops that offer this high absorption capacity. We use terry to make our bath towels, flannels, changing mat covers and bibs. For our bibs, we mix 80% cotton and 20% polyester. This blend makes them more waterproof, retaining liquids better and keeping baby clean.
Jersey
Jersey is made from cotton, wool or synthetic fibres. In our case, we only use cotton in our jersey creations. This stretchy, soft and pleasant material is used to make bodies, the linings of our sleeping bags, summer pyjamas and fitted sheets.
Cotton poplin
This fabric is made from very tightly woven yarns of different thicknesses. This elegant fabric offers a certain hold with a soft, pleasant feel. For our Rose et Lili collection, we used organic cotton, which is responsible, natural and hypoallergenic.
Velvet
This material, known for its softness, is used in many of our products. It is made from tightly-packed, close-cut pile, which gives it that soft feel. There are different types of velvet: cut velvet and corduroy. It can be made from cotton, silk, wool, jute and other materials. In our case, velvet is made from 75% cotton and 25% polyester. It is often found in our baby pyjamas for its softness and warmth, but also in our early learning range.
Muslin
Muslin, also known as cotton gauze, is known for its loose weave and lightness. We use pre-washed cotton muslin to obtain an even softer fabric. Cotton gauze is generally found in our nappies, flannels and washable wipes, as well as in our summer sleeping bags, because it is breathable, natural, highly absorbent and soft against baby's skin.
Linen
Created from the cultivation of a plant that makes do with the sun and rainwater, this plant-based material is environmentally friendly. It is also renowned for its durability. As a natural material, linen is hypoallergenic, insulating and breathable. Linen can be found on a number of items in our Rose et Lili collection.
Le Softboa
This synthetic material, also known as Velboa or Veloudoux®, is used in a variety of fields, including textiles. The very short pile fabric is extremely soft. It is elastic, resistant and not very absorbent. It's easy to care for because it wrinkles very little and doesn't shrink despite repeated washing.
